U-slot microstrip patch antennas were originally developed for bandwidth broadening applications. Recently, it was found that the U-slot technique can also enable the patch antenna to perform other functions, including: dual-band and tri-band operations, as well as for circular polarization applications. The versatility of U-slot patch antennas will be discussed in this paper. The proposed antenna is comprised of16 rectangular patchs with U-slot and microstrip line feed network. Rectangular patch antennas are arrayed in $4\times 4$ formation to obtain a high gain. The -10dB reflection coefficient bandwidth of array antenna is 4.91 GHz (25.16 GHz −30.7 GHz) and the maximum gain is 17.01 dBi in the y-z plane.
The design of inverted U-slot aperture coupled wideband microstrip patch antenna is analyzed and discussed in this work. The performance parameters of the antenna as detailed in Table 3 are achieved in a good agreement after applying slight modifications to the base design to reach up to the final optimum wideband design.
This characteristic can be obtained by embedding a U-slot in the patch and hence the radiating patch includes a pair of step-slots. In this paper, we propose a dual-band microstrip patch antenna with u-shaped slot fed by coaxial feeding technique. The proposed antenna is designed, simulated and optimized using Ansoft HFSS Vs 13.
May 20, 2008 A novel single layer single probe fed T-slot broadband rectangular patch antenna is reported in this article. A T-slot patch antenna gives an impedance bandwidth (-10dB return loss) of 25.23% with an average gain of about 7.43 dBi over the entire passband and peak gain of 9.88 dBi. The microstrip antenna consists of the rectangular patch on the top of the dielectric substrate and over which a u-shaped slot has been made to reduce the size of the antenna. The reduction in the size of the antenna results in improved gain and the return loss of the antenna.
